About the artists and the art of broom making
Women Owned and Operated Business.
Located in the heart of the Midwest's Driftless area, Galena, Illinois.
Lifelong crafters, artisans and best friends.
Lovingly created by Monica Mackie and Hesper Nowatzki.
Every broom is an original, uniquely crafted with its own distinct personality. We gather driftwood and select ideal hardwoods to create the perfect broomstick. Harvested woods are dried for a year or longer, then shaped, carved, sanded, hand finished, painted or burnt to create a special piece made specifically for the user. We love creating along with you to bring your vision into being!
Our broom heads or bristles are made of harvested broomcorn(Sorghum vulgare), hand-dyed or natural, bound and hand-plaited in the custom, Appalachian tradition onto each handle.
